Hyundai Hits 10 Million Sales | Luther Burnsville Hyundai

Hyundai driver’s everywhere have reason to celebrate. On October 28th, 2015, the South Korean carmaker sold its 10 millionth car in the United States, etching its name into American automotive history forever.

Just under 30 years ago, Hyundai entered the U.S. market in 1986 with just one model, the Excel. In a mere seven months, Hyundai sold its 100,000th Excel establishing the brand as a force to be reckoned with and setting an industry record for the most first-year sales for an import car company.

Over the next 29 years the brand became of the fastest-growing automobile companies due to its diverse lineup of quality vehicles and strategic rollout of these models.  Hyundai’s current lineup includes the Accent, Azera, Elantra, Equus, Genesis, Genesis Coupe, Santa Fe, Santa Fe Sport, Sonata, Sonata Hybrid, Sonata PHEV, Tucson and Veloster.

Much of the company’s success in the United States is thanks to the decision to begin making the vehicles in the U.S. Ten years ago Hyundai opened the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) plant, expanding its operations to American soil. Since the plants opening, HMMA had built more than 2,660,314 vehicles. The brand’s top selling Sonata makes up 63% of total production at HMMA and while the Elantra comes in 2nd with 23% of the total production at HMMA. About 56% of the vehicles Hyundai sells in the United States are built at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama plant.

This milestone achievement showcases the brand’s monumental success and commitment to providing its customers with the highest quality vehicles with the best value and price.
